Interim Implementation Project Manager

There are ERP projects. Then there are business-critical transformation programmes that actually change how a company operates.

This is firmly the second.

A multi-entity business has approved, in principle, a 4–6 month implementation project to replace a combination of legacy systems with SAGE Intacct. The business needs an experienced interim Project Manager to own the programme internally and drive delivery from the client side. This will likely be a 4-5 day per week project to begin with, with reduced input required post go live.

This is not an IT-led systems upgrade. It’s a finance-led operational transformation project requiring somebody who can challenge processes, coordinate stakeholders, manage implementation partners and keep momentum across a complex business environment.

You’ll be the person sitting between Finance, Operations and the Systems Provider ensuring decisions get made, requirements are properly scoped and the project lands successfully.

Key early priorities will include:

  • Leading business process mapping workshops across multiple business units, identifying operational efficiencies and defining future-state processes
  • Working closely with finance and operational stakeholders to shape SAGE Intacct configuration requirements
  • Assessing the projects/construction module requirements and advising on implementation scope and phasing options
  • Managing data cleansing strategy, migration scope and historic data decisions
  • Defining user structures, licence requirements and access models
  • Coordinating internal stakeholders and holding the implementation partner accountable against agreed deliverables and timelines
  • Creating structure, governance and reporting around the programme for the CFO and senior leadership team

The successful candidate will almost certainly have:

  • Proven experience delivering ERP or finance systems implementations from the client side
  • Strong understanding of finance processes and operational workflows
  • Previous exposure to SAGE Intacct
  • Confidence running cross-functional projects in fast-moving environments
  • The ability to challenge constructively rather than simply administer a project plan
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with both finance and non-finance teams

This role would suit an experienced interim who understands that successful implementations are driven as much by process and people as they are by software.
