There are law firms that say theyโre โdifferent.โ Then there are law firms that actually are.
This oneโs independent, well-established, and home to some very well-known clients (the kind youโve definitely shopped with, driven past, or poured from).
This Bradford-based law firm is looking for a Legal Cashier. Someone who knows their way around a client account, can smell a reconciliation issue from a mile off, and doesnโt need reminding what the Solicitors Accounts Rules are (because youโve been living them for at least the last three years).
What you’ll be doing:
- Itโs a mix of the usual suspects:
- Posting receipts (manual and electronic)
- Reconciling bank accounts
- Dealing with CHAPS and card payments
- Making sure bills are accurate and posted
- Moving money between Client and Office accounts without breaking a sweat
- Producing tidy Excel sheets (not the ones that make you weep)
- Answering queries from fee earners, colleagues, and the occasional confused client
Thereโs admin, as always. But the good news is youโll be part of a small, tight team that gets on. Youโll also be working for people who donโt think โcommercial awarenessโ is a personality trait.
What you’ll need:
- Around 3+ yearsโ experience in a Legal Cashier or similar finance role
- Working knowledge of Solicitors Accounts Rules
- Excel skills that are more โpracticalโ than โpivot table wizardryโ
- Experience with Partner case management software would help (but is not essential)
What you’ll get:
- An annual salary of up to ยฃ32k
- 25 daysโ holiday, rising with service (plus bank holidays), with the opportunity to buy and sell
- Life assurance cover from day one
- Company-paid health cash plan
- Travel discounts and interest-free season ticket loans
- Enhanced maternity/paternity pay for long-serving employees, Bradford-based
If you like working in an environment where people are trusted to get on with things, not micromanaged, and you prefer straight-talking to jargon, this could be worth a conversation.
