From miniature plants and moss to stones and soil, the Headstar team got hands-on this week as we created our own terrariums as part of our Employee Wellbeing Programme.
Organised by our Operations Manager, Georgia Dutton, the workshop was delivered by The Plant Point, an independent houseplant shop based in Leeds Corn Exchange.
The team guided us through the process of building our own miniature ecosystems, explaining how terrariums work and helping everyone create something to take home at the end of the session.
And with a unanimous “I’ve never done this before” from the team, it certainly ticked the box for trying something new.
Making time for wellbeing
The workshop was the latest in a series of activities organised through Headstar’s Employee Wellbeing Programme.
The programme is designed to give our team opportunities to step away from their desks, spend time together and try activities that support their wellbeing – whether that’s getting active, being social or simply learning something new.
Sam Goodwin, Head of Marketing at Headstar, said,“I’ve always been fascinated by terrariums, although until yesterday I didn’t actually know that’s what they were called! It was a really relaxing activity and something completely different for all of us.
Our wellbeing activities give us a chance to switch off from work for a while and spend time together as a team. Georgia always manages to find something a little bit different for us to try, and this one was great fun.”
The finished terrariums are now heading to desks and homes across the Headstar team – where, thanks to their self-contained nature, we’re hopeful they’ll survive even for those of us who routinely forget that their desk plants need watering.
A big thank you to The Plant Point for joining us and showing us the ropes. You can find out more about them and their workshops at theplantpoint.co.uk.
