Letโs be clear from the start: this is a hands-on Assistant Accountant role for someone who genuinely knows their way around the numbers.
This business based in Goole is looking for an experienced all-rounder. Someone whoโs comfortable with the day-to-day bookkeeping and can get accounts neatly up to the Trial Balance without breaking a sweat. If youโre the type who likes things reconciled, journals tidy, and spreadsheets behaving themselves, then youโll feel right at home here.
What will you be doing?
Youโll be supporting a small, experienced finance team across two closely linked businesses. One side is broad and varied, the other more specific. Thankfully, this means plenty of variety and zero boredom.

- Supporting the Group Management Accountant with the monthly MI pack
- Posting invoices and processing journals (payroll, stock, accruals & prepayments)
- Daily bank processing and reconciliations (including multiple currencies)
- Maintaining the fixed asset register
- Preparing audit files for external accountants
- Managing invoice discounting reconciliations
- Agent commission and customer rebate calculations
- Aged debtor and creditor ledger maintenance
- Factory efficiency reporting
- Supporting trade loan submissions
- Covering across payroll, purchase ledger and credit control when needed
What are they looking for?
- AAT Level 3 or 4
- Strong Excel skills (you know your way around formulas)
- Experience with QuickBooks
- Experience using accounting software
- Good communication skills
- High attention to detail (this one actually matters here)
