Senior Finance Assistant
Some roles keep the numbers ticking over – this one helps you understand them. This isn’t just processing. It’s hands-on, analytical work where your input feeds directly into month-end and management reporting.
As a Finance Assistant, you’ll support the management accounting function during a busy period. You’ll be working with large data sets, getting into the detail, and making sure the numbers stand up to scrutiny.
You’ll take ownership of your work, manage your deadlines, and build relationships across the business to get the information you need.
What you’ll be doing
- Support the preparation of monthly management accounts – analysing spend, reviewing accruals, and helping explain the numbers
- Assist with month-end close – posting journals, including accruals and prepayments, and making sure deadlines are met
- Carry out balance sheet reconciliations – ensuring everything is backed up, accurate, and complete
- Perform bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies quickly and thoroughly
- Maintain accurate financial records and support a strong control environment, including compliance requirements
- Partner with stakeholders across the business – answering queries and providing financial insight where needed
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and ad hoc analysis to help inform decision-making
- Get involved in process improvements and finance projects as the team continues to grow
What you’ll need:
- Experience in a Finance Assistant or Assistant Accountant role, ideally with exposure to management accounts
- AAT qualified or studying – or equivalent experience
- A solid understanding of accruals, prepayments, and reconciliations
- Strong Excel skills and confidence working with large volumes of data
- A high level of attention to detail and pride in producing accurate work
