Interim Financial Controller

Are you an experienced Financial Controller with hands-on SAP S/4HANA experience?

If you enjoy coming into a business during a period of change, getting stuck into financial accounting, strengthening the balance sheet, and helping deliver major transformation projects, this could be an excellent interim opportunity.

We’re partnering with a growing business in the Selby area that is entering a significant period of change.

The business is in the middle of an SAP S/4HANA implementation, with go-live planned for November, while also preparing for the launch of a new facility next year.

They need an experienced Interim Financial Controller who can provide immediate support to the CFO, help stabilise the finance function, and play a key role in delivering the next phase of the business’s transformation.

The Role
This is a hands-on Financial Controller role with a strong focus on financial accounting, balance sheet integrity, systems implementation, and supporting the wider finance transformation.

Reporting directly to the CFO, you’ll provide an experienced pair of hands during a period of significant change.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the SAP S/4HANA implementation and preparing the finance function for go-live
  • Taking ownership of financial accounting and balance sheet activity
  • Reviewing and strengthening balance sheet controls and reconciliations
  • Supporting the wider finance team through a period of change
  • Helping implement new processes and ways of working
  • Supporting the CFO with wider transformation projects
  • Preparing the finance function for future growth and increased operational complexity
  • Providing hands-on Financial Controller support across the business as required
  • Hybrid, with 2-3 days on-site required

This is not a role for someone who wants to sit back and simply oversee the numbers.

You’ll be coming into a relatively lean finance team and will need to quickly understand what needs doing, take ownership, and get stuck in.

What We’re Looking For
The key requirement is hands-on SAP S/4HANA experience.

You’ll ideally have:

  • Previous Financial Controller experience
  • Experience working with SAP S/4HANA
  • Strong financial accounting and balance sheet experience
  • Experience improving processes and controls
  • The ability to operate independently during periods of change
  • A hands-on, sleeves-rolled-up approach
  • Strong stakeholder management skills

Manufacturing experience would be beneficial, particularly for someone who understands the financial implications of moving into a more complex operational environment, but it isn’t essential.

Why Join?
This is a genuinely meaty interim assignment with plenty to get stuck into.

  • Play a key role in an SAP S/4HANA implementation
  • Work directly alongside a newly appointed CFO
  • Help shape the finance function during a major period of transformation
  • Broad role spanning financial accounting, controls, systems, and process improvement
  • Opportunity to support a business as it enters a new phase operationally
  • Potential for the role to develop into a longer-term or permanent opportunity
  • Flexible working pattern, with hybrid working available

If you’re an experienced interim Financial Controller with SAP S/4HANA experience and enjoy transformation environments, hit apply.
