This isnโ€™t a โ€œkeep the lights on and tick a few invoices offโ€ kind of job.
This is for someone who knows their way around a purchase ledger so well they could probably reconcile it in their sleep.

Youโ€™ll be taking ownership of a busy AP function within a well-established, fast-moving business that deals with high volumes, tight deadlines, and the occasional โ€œhow did that get through?โ€ moment.

Youโ€™ll be supporting the Head of Transactional Finance, but day-to-day this is your team, your processes, your standards.

If you like things tidy, timely, and technically correctโ€ฆ youโ€™ll probably do well here.

๐—ช๐—ต๐—ฎ๐˜ ๐˜†๐—ผ๐˜‚โ€™๐—น๐—น ๐—ฎ๐—ฐ๐˜๐˜‚๐—ฎ๐—น๐—น๐˜† ๐—ฏ๐—ฒ ๐—ฑ๐—ผ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด:

Youโ€™ll be responsible for running the accounts payable operation like a well-oiled machine (or at least something that doesnโ€™t squeak too loudly on a Friday afternoon).

โ€ข Leading and developing a team of Accounts Payable Assistants (yes, actual leadership – not just forwarding emails with โ€œthoughts?โ€)
โ€ข Keeping the creditors ledger accurate, up to date, and under control
โ€ข Owning weekly and monthly payment runs, including reviewing, checking, uploading, and making sure money goes exactly where it should
โ€ข Managing month-end close activities so deadlines arenโ€™t a surprise to anyone
โ€ข Making sure supplier and subcontractor payments are correct, timely, and fully compliant with internal policies
โ€ข Running reconciliations and producing meaningful reports (not just spreadsheets for the sake of it)
โ€ข Working closely with Procurement and Compliance to vet and onboard suppliers properly
โ€ข Supporting integration activity when new acquisitions come into the fold
โ€ข Driving improvements across systems, processes, and the occasional โ€œweโ€™ve always done it this wayโ€ mindset

Youโ€™ll also get involved in implementing and improving P2P and expenses systems, so if you like fixing things that annoy people, youโ€™ll be busy.

โ€ข Proven experience managing an Accounts Payable team
โ€ข Solid understanding of Excel (pivot tables, formulas)
โ€ข Confidence working with high volumes and tight deadlines without spiralling
โ€ข Strong attention to detail (the kind that notices a ยฃ3 discrepancy and refuses to move on)
โ€ข A practical, calm approach when things get busy
โ€ข Good communication skills and able to talk to suppliers, stakeholders, and finance colleagues without confusion or drama
