Where are all the female CFOs?
It’s a question that sparked a deeper conversation at Headstar – and it began with a realisation from our own Director Jenny Martin:
“I’m shortlisting for a £150k CFO role – and my list is overwhelmingly male.”
Despite seeing excellent representation of women at Financial Controller level, there’s still a sharp drop-off when it comes to CFO and Finance Director roles. At Headstar, we’re proud that 50% of our own board is female. But we also recognise the urgent need for a stronger pipeline of women stepping into top finance leadership.
That’s why we’re launching HerFinance Circle; a peer-led community for female CFOs and aspiring FDs in Yorkshire.
Who is it for?
- Established CFOs looking to expand their network
- Ambitious FDs or Financial Controllers aiming for their next leap
- Anyone passionate about growing diversity in finance leadership
Help us shape the community
We keep hearing from women across the region who want more opportunities to share ideas and challenges with likeminded people, and who are keen for more events with real purpose and practical value.
But we don’t want to assume we know what works. We want to build this with you, not for you.
That’s why we’ve created a quick 3-minute survey to get your input on:
- Preferred platforms for connection (WhatsApp? LinkedIn?)
- Topics that matter to you – from board-level influence to AI in finance
- Event formats you’d attend – from networking drinks and panel talks, to online webinars
- Whether you’d be interested in speaking, mentoring, or contributing to charitable initiatives
This isn’t just about representation – it’s about building a stronger, more connected finance leadership community across Yorkshire. We’d love for you to be part of it.
