“Your first job is a stop gap – just take whatever you can get.”
Not very motivating, is it? Being told the job you haven’t even started yet is going nowhere fast.
Still, it’s easy to feel jaded as you scroll between minimum wage jobs with mandatory weekends, unpaid internships, and so-called entry level roles asking for several years’ experience. But as a uni leaver, you’ve actually got more options than most. The world of work is yours to claim as you see fit.
So why not become a recruiter? Isn’t that what everyone dreams of doing when they grow up?
We’re definitely biased but we think recruitment is a brilliant career choice. The money’s great, you’ll learn a lot about business and people in general, and career growth can happen on your terms. If you’re hitting your goals, no one’s going to ask you to wait until you’ve worked an arbitrary number of years, or for someone else to retire so you can climb the ladder.
Obviously there are challenges – this is a sales role. You’ll regularly deal with rejection, people will let you down, and things will fall outside of your control daily. But it’s how you handle these events that matters and you’ll find it easier each time. The resilience you build here will make you stronger, both in and out of work.
Saying that, we’re not asking you to simply learn on the job. We’ve got a thorough training plan in place which will not only teach you recruitment, but related skills such as marketing, negotiation, sales, advert writing, financial management, and much more.
What’s in it for you?
You’ll get a salary of £20 – £25k, plus industry leading commission up to 30% with no monthly threshold (£45k OTE in year 1). Benefits include 30 days’ holiday, plus bank holidays – including your birthday and a wellbeing day. Everyone is rewarded for great performance, this year the entire business is spending 3 nights in New York and vouchers are regularly awarded to recognise individual contributions on top of your commission.
There’s a hybrid work setup with flexibility, and free parking in Leeds city centre. We’re also running a brand new programme to support your mental, physical, financial, and social wellbeing.
You’ll become part of a team who genuinely enjoys working together. There’s no micromanagement or patronising assumptions, you’ll be trusted to do the right thing. We only hire people who align with what makes our team special – a strong sense of personal responsibility and drive, without taking yourself too seriously.
With a clear growth plan in place, you’ll have total control over your own career development – your potential won’t come down to someone else’s opinion. Hit your milestones faster and your career will progress faster.
