Some finance roles promise “variety” — then throw you into a whirlwind of firefighting, broken processes, and a spreadsheet from 2008 that no one understands. This isn’t that.

I’m hiring for a business that’s steady, sensible, and ready for someone who knows their way around month-end and isn’t fazed by a reconciliation or two. You’ll be joining a small, friendly team with proper support from a Head of Finance who actually makes decisions and doesn’t just forward problems to you.

The role in a nutshell:

• Own the Accounts Payable and Receivable processes — keep things accurate and on track
• Post payroll journals (you won’t be running payroll, just making sure it’s accounted for)
• Manage supplier payments and make sure approvals are in place
• Handle accruals, prepayments, and month-end journals
• Reconcile general ledger accounts and keep the cashflow forecast sharp Support internal reporting and audits with minimal fuss

What they’re looking for:

• Previous experience in a similar role — Finance Assistant, Assistant
• Accountant, or anything along those lines
• Confident with accounting software (Sage, Xero, or similar) and decent with Excel
• AAT qualified or working toward ACCA/CIMA (but not essential if you’re experienced)
• Detail-focused, organised, and someone who can spot issues before they become problems
• Likes autonomy but knows when to ask the right questions
