I’m working with a business that’s just stepped out from under the umbrella of a much bigger group – and they need someone solid to help get the finance function into shape.

They’re not looking for a backseat passenger. They want someone who’s up for rolling their sleeves up, sorting out ledgers, tightening up processes, and generally being the calm in the storm. If you’ve ever thought “I’d love to help build something, not just maintain it” — this is your shot. You’ll be part of a small, growing team, right at the heart of it.

What you’ll actually be doing:

• Keeping the purchase ledger under control (invoices, POs, payments, supplier statements – the works)
• Managing the sales ledger (invoicing, cash allocation, chasing up late payers)
• Month-end support: journals, accruals, prepayments, bank recs
• Helping to build cashflow forecasts and track spend vs. budget
• Documenting new finance processes (yes, from scratch)
• Migrating from the old system to the new one
• Making sure the numbers stack up while the rest of the business is finding its feet

You’ll thrive here if you:

• Are studying AAT / ACCA / CIMA (or planning to)
• Have 2+ years in an assistant accountant role
• Know your way around both purchase and sales ledgers
• Can bend Excel to your will (PivotTables, VLOOKUPs – no problem)
• Are cool with change, ambiguity, and figuring things out as you go
• Have experience with Sage 200? Bonus.
• Want real responsibility, not just ticking boxes
